Lesson Types

At Aqua Academy our lessons are structured in accordance with the STA awards scheme.

We offer a wide range of lessons to accommodate your needs, regardless of age and ability. Below you will find a list detailing each of your options.

Babies: Give your child the earliest advantage, with classes from as early as three months, in our Starfish lessons. These 30-minute introductory sessions require in-pool supervision by one adult (parent, guardian etc) and aim to lay the foundations for water-confidence and safety, but most of all – teach your little one that water can be fun!

Learn-to-Swim: Starting from three years upwards, our learn-to-swim lessons will help grow your child’s confidence in the water, and develop independent swimming capabilities. They will be guided by the expertise of our fully-qualified swimming teachers, in an intimate class of no more than four or six children for non-swimmers and beginner-swimmers respectively.

Advanced: Once your child has a developed understanding of swimming, they can progress to our advanced one-hour squad sessions to refine their technique, stamina and skills. We will also aim to provide an introduction into competitive club swimming, giving the children a chance to attend fun galas with fellow Aqua Academy squad swimmers.

Junior Lifeguard: Sometimes, after a child has reached a level of individually competent swimming, they may not necessarily wish to practice squad-standard lessons. In this case, we offer an alternative in the form of a 45-minute weekly STA Junior Lifeguard Academy which teaches invaluable lifesaving and survival skills through fun, group-based tasks. To qualify, your child must be able to swim 50m with strong technique.


Adult sessions: Whether you are a nervous non-swimmer, an established triathlete looking to improve your technique or stamina, or anything in between, we have sessions to cater for you. You could just be searching for that extra confidence ahead of your holiday in Spain, or perhaps you have a particular goal in mind. Regardless, our 45-minute sessions will be invaluable to you.
